Green Schools Summit a Great Success

Smoky Hill Education Service Center hosted a Green Schools Summit sponsored by Trane Commercial Systems on February 25th in Salina.  Dozens of district administrators, school board members, and other educational leaders from across the state attended. The purpose of the summit was to discuss how school districts are redefining success in turbulent times.  Although the benefits of a better learning environment--higher student achievement, healthier students, and higher teacher retention rates--are undeniable, the question becomes is this a wise move in difficult economic times? Storytelling Festival Excursion

Register Now for the Smoky Hill Foundation Golf Tournament

The 14th Annual Smoky Hill Education Foundation Golf Tournament will be held at the Salina Municipal Golf Course on Tuesday,  June 1st.  The SHESC Foundation hosts one of the largest golf tournaments at the course each year, and all the proceeds are used to further educational efforts in over 60 school districts throughout Central, North Central, and Western Kansas.   Each team registration includes 4 greens fees, 2 golf cart rentals, lunch, prizes, and a chance to win a drawing for a new Traeger Grill.      Check-in begins at 7:30 AM followed by a shotgun start at 8:30 AM. . . . read more
